Border Security Alliance Statement on the Biden Administration Quietly Approving Construction of the Border Wall in Yuma, Arizona

Phoenix, AZ— The Border Security Alliance (BSA) believes that sound border policies are imperative to protect our local communities and country. Despite the current hyper-politicized nature around the border, border security should be a nonpartisan issue.

President Biden can no longer ignore his administration’s poor border security policies. On July 28th, despite making campaign promises not to build “another foot” of the border wall, the Biden Administration authorized the completion of four major sections of the border wall in Yuma, Arizona.

With gaps in the wall around a dam on the Colorado River and the Biden Administration saw safety issues. Border crossings in that area posed severe drowning hazards. The administration stated that in addition to posing a “safety and life hazard risk for migrants,” the gaps in the wall presented a “life and safety risk” to first responders in the area.

To protect our country and communities, multi-layered approaches must be used to cut down on illegal entry to our country. By forcing all goods and people to a port of entry, we can better monitor and maintain who and what enters our country. We must use all tools, such as wall barriers, technology, and Border Patrol and Customs agents, to better regulate our border.

“By approving the construction of the border wall in Yuma, it is clear that the Biden Administration is seeing the results of their failed border policies. Even Senator Kelly visited the border this week to tout efforts to close gaps in the wall. Our communities deserve better,” said Jobe Dickinson, President of BSA.
