Biden’s Border Crisis Breaks Records
PHOENIX, AZ - The 2023 federal fiscal year has ended with increased illegal border crossings and drug seizures from the year prior, yet the Biden Administration continues to ignore the crisis at the southern border. This year, we have seen the expiration of Title 42 and the removal of border wall shipping containers with no real plan in place to address the influx of drugs and immigrants coming across the Southern border.
In August, border encounters reached more than 300,000 and September is anticipated to have record numbers, a trend that is expected to continue for the remainder of the calendar year. In FY23 alone 25,901 pounds of fentanyl has been seized, enough to kill around 6 billion people.
Arizona is ground zero for these surges. Recently, Border Patrol agents in Tucson arrested 11,000 migrants in one week. Migrants are being released by CBP in droves into small border communities that do not have the resources to provide aid or shelter.
“For more than a year, the Border Security Alliance has been calling on the Biden administration to deploy more resources and establish a real plan to secure the southern border,” said Jobe Dickinson, President of the Border Security Alliance. “But the President has decided to ignore the border crisis and focus his time on fundraising for his reelection campaign. International criminal organizations have viewed the border as an open door for human smuggling, fentanyl trafficking, and the movement of other illicit drugs and counterfeit goods. Our border communities are paying the price. Our leaders in Washington D.C. must act.”
Border Security Alliance Chairman Jonathan Lines recently testified before the House Committee on Homeland Security to discuss the financial impact of the border crisis on local communities. Watch HERE.
