Border Security Alliance calls on FDA, Biden administration to finish the job: Get illegal, disposable, foreign-made vapes marketed to kids off the shelves
PHOENIX – Border Security Alliance President Jobe Dickinson issued the following statement on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) “inspection blitz”, which included warning letters to dozens of retailers and one distributor selling illegal, foreign-made, disposable vaping products in kid-friendly flavors. The brands targeted in the FDA’s latest crackdown are especially popular with kids and teens.
“After years of turning a blind eye to it, the FDA is finally acknowledging and taking action against illegal, disposable vapes made in China and marketed in youth-enticing flavors to American kids. Today’s action is an encouraging sign that the FDA means what it says when it comes to making enforcement against these illegal products a priority -- but it’s not enough. The FDA must keep revving up the fight by getting out of their cubicles and teaming up with local law enforcement to get illegal, disposable vapes in kid-friendly flavors off the shelves. As fentanyl continues pouring over the border and traffickers look for new ways to move illicit drugs into communities, the FDA and Biden administration must seize the momentum and get every last one of these potentially-lethal, illegal vapes away from kids.”
