Border Security Alliance Responds to FDA Prioritizing Enforcement Against Illegal, Disposable, Flavored Vapes

PHOENIX – The Border Security Alliance today welcomed the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) announcement that it has issued warning letters targeting Esco Bars and Breeze, two illegal, flavored, disposable vape products. In the announcement, FDA Center for Tobacco Products Director Brian King cited the role these illegal products have played in fueling the youth vaping epidemic and said they "are a priority for FDA compliance and enforcement action."

"I’m glad to see the FDA is finally acknowledging and taking action against the illegal, flavored, disposable e-cigarettes that are flooding into our country,” Border Security Alliance President Jobe Dickinson said. “Mexican cartels are always looking for new ways to get fentanyl over the border and into U.S. communities. Prioritizing enforcement against the illegal, foreign-made vapes that are most popular amongst kids will help save young lives. The FDA must keep the momentum going by ratcheting up enforcement and putting these potentially-lethal, illegal devices out of reach."
